Write about a time when you realized that your perception of a person or group was based on stereotypes. How did this realization affect your behavior or beliefs? What steps did you take to change your perceptions?"

Prompt response : A time that I realized at the way I viewed a certain group of people was shared by stereotypes without me noticing was when I was younger maybe middle school. The stereotype was that Asians always eat rice and they are all very smart. I grew up hearing this so I a,ways went with it. But that’s not the case always because many Asians don’t even like rice and most Asian aren’t as well educated as most. I started to see this as an unfair stereotype . I said to myself that we can’t judge people based off strotyoes.   Summary: Today we were given a new project. It was a group project. We were put into groups. Our task was a project over the article we read called The dangers of a Single Story. We had to pick a ,live or tv show that depicts the negative stereotypes of a certain culture listed. Write a blog post reflecting on a time when you or someone you know was misunderstood because of a single story. How can limiting ourselves to one perspective be harmful? What can we do to make sure we see people and cultures more fully?

Prompt response: My friend Myra grew up in a ghetto, Rachel black neighborhood and was often labeled as ghetto and dumb by teachers and other adults simply because where she grew up. People assumed she was disrespectful and ghetto and always wanting to fight. The truth in reality, Myra is very very sweet , she was raised right by a good mom who is super pretty and sweet. Myra is also very smart and she does not like drama and never finds herself in it. But because people stuck to one perspective because of her environments the stereotype of a ghetto black girl, stuck with her. Limiting our selected to one perspective is harmful because it can lead to prejudice, discrimination, and missed opportunities for connection. It keeps us from seeing the strength and beauty in people. We can change this putting in effort to listen to multiple stories, we need to be more curious and ask questions of others. We need to show empathy as well and see people as human beings and not as labels....

Today’s article discussed how more people are choosing to live in the suburbs rather than in the city. When you become an adult, which lifestyle do you think you would prefer—city life or suburban life? Choose one and explain your reasons clearly.

Prompt response: I would choose a suburban lifestyle because of the peaceful environment, larger living spaces, sense of community and togetherness. Unlike the city which is busy, crowded and loud, the suburbs offer a quieter atmosphere. It’s less stressful and more relaxing. Suburban homes often have more space and larger lands and yards which is great for outdoor activities. Even just sitting outside to soak in the sun. There are also friendly neighbors and good vibes. In both texts that you read, the line between reality and imagination blurs—the narrator sees a woman in the wallpaper, while Dickinson’s speaker feels their own funeral happening in their mind.  Prompt Response: I prefer standard time. Simply because we loose an hour of sleep and I love sleeping. Daylight savings time is a grid idea but can cause less sleep for people who are not prepared for it. I think that switching the time twice in a year will mess up people’s sleep schedule and cause potential health problems.  Summary: Today was a virtual day yayyy😁. We had an assignment on Newsela about Daylight Savings time. The article discussed when daylight savings time was implemented first during world war 1 to conserve energy and fuel consumption.
