How important is it for you to retain your cultural foods as you move forward in life? Explain the importance and which foods you cannot live without.

 Prompt Response: I think that retaining cultural foods in very important because they connect us to our heritage, family traditions and our self identity. Food stores memories , family history and traditions and helps us stay connected to each other as a whole. Some food that I can’t live within would most definitely be Mac& Cheese, steak, mashed potatoes, corn bread, ribs, burgers and chocolate deserts.  Summary: Can’t give class summary, was absent from class today so I don’t know what you all did in todays class period.  Reflection: Can’t give a reflection was absent from class today

How would you feel if your privacy was invaded online or on your phone? Do you think privacy is a basic civil liberty?

 Prompt Response: If my privacy was invaded I would feel violated. I think everyone should mind their business. I feel like basics civil privacy is not a civil right but I feel like it should be because people should mind their own business.  Summary: Today we read a poem called “Refugee in America” by Langston Hughes. We talked about what the true meaning of freedom, liberty and refugee means.  We also talked about our civil rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom from unreasonable searches and seziures. We also talked about each of their limitations. For example we said a limitations of freedom of speech is threatening someone, committing crimes, hate speech and false alarms.  Reflection: Today I learned that freedom is not fully expressed within society. Describe what you did over the winter break (use at least 5 words from Vocabulary Lesson 10 in your paragraph)

 Prompt Response: over the break I got many packages of clothing that I ordered. I had to impale the packages to get them open. After ordering all of these clothes I became impecunious. I had brought great ignoble to my savings plan. But the new clothes were very imperative. A couple of times I had to importune some money from my brother to have a way to work. After all of that I got sick and caught street throat and completely lost my voice. I only went to work 1 day and the rest of the week I was in bed stranded and sick.  Summary: Today in class we did a comic strip. We used all 15 words from Lesson 10 vocabulary. We had to tell a story using all 15 words. Today’s class was pretty easy I loved it. Im not a good drawer but im great at making up stories to tell.  Reflection: Today I learned about half of the words on the list. I didn’t know ,any of the words but I grit to add to my vocabulary 

Write about a time when you faced a challenge, an obstacle, or a moment where you had to push yourself beyond what you thought was possible.

 Prompt Response: A  moment that I had to push my self beyond what I usually so was when I first ever get my job 2 years ago. I was very shy and quiet but I wanted money. So I had to push my self to he active and talking more and get out of my comfort zone in order to get the job and so it successfully.  Summary: I wasnt in class this day so I can’t give a summary  Reflection: was absent 

Write about a time when you had to rely on your mother (or any other prominent female in your life) during your time of need.

 Prompt Response: A time was when I was overwhelmed with School, and personal challenges. I remember just bursting into tears in front of my mom because I was so overwhelmed. I wasn’t sure how to handle certain things and process my emotions and I needed my mother to help me through it. She gave my full attention and support.  Summary: Today in class we read a poem by Maya Angelou. We analyzed the text and annotated the text. Pulled out information to further understand the poem and the meaning of it. We ended the class by doing our blog post.  Reflection: Today I learned about stereotypes. 

It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

 Prompt Response: I can’t really answer this prompt because I don’t watch the Super Bowl.  Summary: Today in class we were introduced to our new assignment on an essay we have to write for the color purple. I choose the prompt that I wanted to do. We ended the class off with doing the blogs. Reflection: We still learning about the process of the thesis statement ent and how to correctly write an essay. 

What do s the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or so,etching else? How do you plan to make vercome this challenge ?

 Prompt response:  The most challenging part of writing an essay is after gathering all of the evidence, having to sentence it up and use proper language. I plan on overcoming this challenge but paraphrasing any quotes I may have, simply explaining my quotes and how it fits the thesis statement/claim.  Summary: Today we took notes on how to write an essay using your claim sentence, evidence, explaining expedience, evidence 2 , explaining that evidence and lastly finishing up with you conclusion sentence. We did a practice example using “The Color Purple “ Novel we have been reading. We used the character Albert because our prompt was choose a character who is decieving and deceives others. We brainstormed , organized and wrote. We finished the class off with reading more of the book then completeting our blog posts.  Reflection : I can use today’s lesson to help me better write essay. I f you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

 Prompt response: if I was to write an essay about my life right now it would talk about my recovery from my car accident, my struggles of career choices and the love for my family. I choose these 3 main points because it is the main topics that I’m currently dealing with right now. It plays a role in my everyday life.  Summary: Today we took notes on how to successfully and correctly write a thesis statement. We talked about how it should be written in a formal manner. We also talked about the steps on completely a thesis statement and how it’s only 1 sentence. I was introduced to the umbrella method of a thesis statement which I have never learned about. I thought it was very interesting as a layout to write your essay and gather your thoughts in.  Reflection: I can take this lesson about thesis statement to college with me. Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

 Prompt response: A time that I had to speak in front of an audience is when I was giving a testimony at church. I was nervous shy and nervous but also determined to get my message out and what I had came upon. I handled them by swallowing my spit, putting my chest out, counting down from 5 and took a deep breathe. Some advice that I would give someone is to not look directly at the crowd, try to look at a wall straight ahead or another object straight ahead that way you won’t be nervous having to look at everybody and their facial expressions.  Summary: today in class we took notes on formal and informal language and when to use it. We practiced some practice questions to get us familiar with it and when each situation it should be used. We ended the class off with doing our blog post.  Reflection: Today I learned when to use informal language and when to use formal language. I can apply this to my daily life when applying for jobs, writing college essays, and even writi...
