Write about something that you can’t stop thinking about

 Prompt response: something that I can’t stop thinking about is the car accident that I was recently in. I have nightmares about it and during the images images of the accident scene js flash in my head and remind me all over again.

Summary: Today we started class off with answering two questions to review about the first few pages have read so far. We discussed different techniques to help when taking a test like process of illumination. After that we took a 5 question pop quiz on the first few letters we read. Then we read some more of the novel. We ended class by watching a few sciences from the actual movies, and I noticed that things are different from the book. 

Reflection: I took away from this book how Celia had to go through troubled times but it foreshadows how it’s gonna make her stronger in the end. Today’s class was fairly easy. My overall day was good

 Prompt Response: A film that portrays my culture is the Pixar movie “Soul”, this movies portrays aspects of black African American culture. This film captures the vibrancy of black culture through its depiction jazz, barbershop culture and community life in New York. Soul introduces global audiences to the richness of black culture in a way that is both respectful and celebratory.  Summary: Today was an easy class. Today our task was to present our project on cultural and their stereotypes negative and positive. As I watched everyone’s presentation I learned a lot about the dangers of a single story. I learned that you shouldn’t follow stereotypes of any kind. You should get to know the person as a whole and not based off of these stereotypes. Stereotypes can be very dangerous in the media. Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

 Prompt response: A time that I had to speak in front of an audience is when I was giving a testimony at church. I was nervous shy and nervous but also determined to get my message out and what I had came upon. I handled them by swallowing my spit, putting my chest out, counting down from 5 and took a deep breathe. Some advice that I would give someone is to not look directly at the crowd, try to look at a wall straight ahead or another object straight ahead that way you won’t be nervous having to look at everybody and their facial expressions.  Summary: today in class we took notes on formal and informal language and when to use it. We practiced some practice questions to get us familiar with it and when each situation it should be used.
