Write about something that you wish you had more of.

 Prompt Response: I wish I had more money. With more money I can buy my dream things such as my dream car and house and give my family money as well. I want to be very successful and manage my money well. I could do so much more good in this world if I had more money because I’ve already got a huge heart. 

Summary: Today in class we read the article “Key Facts as India Surpasses China as the world most populous Country” by Laura Silver. This article started the facts on how India is becoming the world’s most populous country. India will overtake china around April. People under the age of 25 account for 40% of India’s population. Adults 65 and older only account for 7% of India’s population. This is very shocking to me because you would think there are more adults since they keep giving birth to kids. 

Reflection: I learned a handful of data about India and their population status. I learned that India is estimated to have around 1.4 billion people, which is greater than Europe population. I learned about about India’s fertility rate with women. My overall day was good

 Prompt Response: A film that portrays my culture is the Pixar movie “Soul”, this movies portrays aspects of black African American culture. This film captures the vibrancy of black culture through its depiction jazz, barbershop culture and community life in New York. Soul introduces global audiences to the richness of black culture in a way that is both respectful and celebratory.  Summary: Today was an easy class. Today our task was to present our project on cultural and their stereotypes negative and positive. As I watched everyone’s presentation I learned a lot about the dangers of a single story. I learned that you shouldn’t follow stereotypes of any kind. You should get to know the person as a whole and not based off of these stereotypes. Stereotypes can be very dangerous in the media. Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

 Prompt response: A time that I had to speak in front of an audience is when I was giving a testimony at church. I was nervous shy and nervous but also determined to get my message out and what I had came upon. I handled them by swallowing my spit, putting my chest out, counting down from 5 and took a deep breathe. Some advice that I would give someone is to not look directly at the crowd, try to look at a wall straight ahead or another object straight ahead that way you won’t be nervous having to look at everybody and their facial expressions.  Summary: today in class we took notes on formal and informal language and when to use it. We practiced some practice questions to get us familiar with it and when each situation it should be used.
