Today in class we had 6 discussion questions about the title of the play we are about to read called “FENCES “. We discussed what it means to have physical and metaphorical fences in one’s life. The play we are about to read it directed in the 1950s, and during those times I believe that African Americans had a hard life and had many fences. They were faced with identify, lack of education, segregation, lack of job opportunities, financial unstable. Throughout these struggles African Americans had no choice but to build metaphorical fences such as putting a shield up for protection, keeping others out, being cautious on who they can trust and more. I learned a lot already about this play just by annotating the title. Overall today, school was pretty good, it went by pretty fast so that’s good. My classes were good and the overall mood of today was good.
